The 2027 GMC Canyon Trim Comparison: Elevation vs. AT4 vs. AT4X vs. Denali
*2026 Model Shown
The 2027 GMC Canyon trim lineup gives you four distinct versions of GMC's midsize pickup to consider: Elevation, AT4, AT4X, and Denali. Each 2027 GMC Canyon combines a TurboMax™ engine with a Crew Cab and short bed, but the trims differ significantly in off-road equipment, technology, and interior amenities. At Gillman GMC, you can compare each GMC Canyon trim to find the combination of capability and comfort that works for you.
GMC Canyon Elevation
The Elevation is the starting point of this new GMC truck and provides plenty of useful technology without requiring you to move into an off-road or luxury-focused trim. Its TurboMax™ 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment includes an 11.3-inch center touchscreen, 11-inch digital Driver Information Center, HD Rear Vision Camera with Hitch View, ProGrade™ Trailering System, and Off-Road Performance Display. The Elevation can also tow up to 7,700 lbs when properly equipped.
GMC Canyon AT4
The AT4 adds equipment designed for more challenging terrain. Four-wheel drive is standard, along with a two-speed Autotrac® transfer case, automatic locking rear differential, transfer case shield, and Advanced Hill Descent Control.
A 2-inch factory-installed lift and ultra-wide track further distinguish the AT4 from the Elevation. Its Drive Mode Selector provides Normal, Terrain, Tow/Haul, and Off-Road modes, allowing you to adjust the truck's behavior for different conditions.
The AT4 also adds the MultiStow® Tailgate storage system, while leather-appointed front seating surfaces are available through the AT4 Premium Package. It's a strong middle ground if you want additional off-road capability without moving all the way to the more specialized AT4X.
GMC Canyon AT4X
The AT4X is the most off-road-focused GMC Canyon trim. It builds on the AT4 with a 3-inch factory-installed lift, Multimatic® DSSV dampers, and selectable front and rear electronic locking differentials.
An AT4X-exclusive Baja drive mode with launch control provides another level of performance for off-road driving. Rocker protectors and a transfer case shield add protection underneath the truck, while available underbody cameras provide front- and rear-facing views beneath the vehicle to help you see obstacles while navigating difficult terrain.
GMC Canyon Denali
The Denali takes the GMC Canyon in a different direction, emphasizing premium materials and technology rather than maximum off-road capability. Inside, the Denali features a Jet Black interior with Teak accents, perforated leather-appointed seating, and laser-etched open-pore wood trim. A 6.3-inch multicolor Head-Up Display places important driving information within your line of sight, while the Bose® premium audio system upgrades the cabin's entertainment experience.
What Do All GMC Canyon Trims Have in Common?
Every current GMC Canyon trim uses the TurboMax™ engine, producing 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The lineup also features an 11.3-inch center touchscreen and 11-inch digital Driver Information Center, giving even the entry-level Elevation a substantial amount of standard technology.
Where the trims differ is specialization. Elevation focuses on everyday versatility, AT4 introduces additional off-road equipment, AT4X provides the lineup's most advanced trail-focused hardware, and Denali emphasizes luxury and premium technology.
